GOODROW, Edward P. Edward P. Goodrow, 81, of Ellsworth Boulevard, Kensington, widower of Edith Anne (Bonalumi) Goodrow, died Friday evening, (June 17, 2005) at his home. Born in Windsor, VT., the son of the late Edward Oliver Goodrow and the late Edith Laura (Parker) Goodrow, he received his Bachelor's degree from Teachers College of Connecticut now C.C.S.U., and his Master's degree from Trinity College, served in the US Navy in World War II, taught history in the Berlin Public School system until his retirement, and was a part-time lecturer at Central Connecticut State University. He attended St. Paul's Church, and was a member of the Berlin Lions Club who awarded him the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship, and where he served as club chaplain for 17 years. The gentleman with a photographic memory was an avid fly fisherman and loved "Big Band" music. He is survived by two brothers, William Goodrow of Ormond Beach, FL., and Donald Goodrow of Lynn Creek, MO.; a sister, Audrey Kelsey in Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial will be in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The Berlin Lions have a service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to Berlin Lions Charities, Inc., P.O. There are few teachers who can make the impression on their students that Mr. Goodrow made on our son. He always admired and respected him. My sincere sympathy to his family - may you find solace in knowing that he made a true and lasting impression on many of his students.
