HERMANN, Edward Douglas Edward Douglas Hermann, 64, of Winchester Center passed away on Sunday, (May 28, 2006). He was the loving husband of Barbara (Berti) Hermann for 41 years. Born February 4, 1942 in Bristol, the son of the late Edward L. And Emily (Case) Hermann. He worked for First National Stores/Stop & Shop where he retired after 46 years of employment in Elmwood, Bristol, Watertown, Torrington, Canaan and Barkhamsted. He was also the Shop Steward #371 of UFCW for many years. He loved landscaping around his house and gardening. He also enjoyed building model cars of the 1950s and 1960s especially the 1962 Corvette. He was a long standing member of the Winchester Center Congregational Church in Winchester Center. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas C. Hermann of Winchester and Edward J. Hermann and his wife, Melissa of Townsend, MA; a daughter, Sheri A. Symmonds and her husband, Kim of Harwinton; three grandchildren, Derek Symmonds, Megan Symmonds and Owen Hermann; a father-in-law, Cilio Berti of Lime Rock; a brother-in-law, John Berti of Massachusetts and a niece, Justine Berti of Massachusetts. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 1, at Barkhamsted Center Cemetery, Rte. 181, Barkhamsted at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ernest Bengston officiating. There will be no calling hours. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Winchester Center Congregational Church, PO Box 45, Winchester Center, CT and/or Foothills Visiting Nurses Assn., 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. may you find strength and comfort in all the loving memories you share of Ed, and the knowledge that he is in heaven, at peace. I know that we feel lucky to have him up there with my Mom, and they are watching over us.
