Edward A. Matyka

Edward A. Matyka, 97, of Cromwell, husband of Theresa (Tosatti) Matyka, passed away Tuesday (January 20, 2015) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. Born in Kensington, he was a former New Britain resident and lived in Lyme for 15 years before moving to Cromwell in 2008. Ed was employed in the Hand Tools Division of Stanley Works for over 20 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in New Britain. Besides his wife Theresa, he leaves two sons, Ronald Matyka of Kensington, and Brian Matyka and his wife Elizabeth of Cromwell; a sister, Margaret Ropiak of Middletown, NY; four grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Rachel and Adam; a great granddaughter, Olivia; several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by a son, Roger Matyka; a grandson, Wayne Matyka; a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Matyka; four sisters and two brothers. At Ed's request, the funeral and burial are private. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051.
