Edward R. Pasciutti

Edward R. Pasciutti, of Southington, passed away on Sunday (November 10, 2002). He was the husband of Mary (Pollock) Pasciutti. Edward was born to Lorenzo and Domenica Pasciutti in New York City on February 1, 1920. Ed attended the RCA Institute of NYC from 1939-1943 where he received a certificate in Advanced Radio & Television Technology. He then served as a Radio Engineer in the U.S. Army, Headquarters Battery, 63rd Division Artillery from 1943-1946 during which time he received the American Campaign, EAME Campaign World War II Victory and Bronze Star Medals. Upon his discharge, Ed worked in Electronic Maintenance at Bradley Field in Windsor Locks, before attending the University of Connecticut at Storrs where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He spent six years as a research engineer with the Naval Ordinance Lab in White Oak, MD, before moving to the National Aeronautics & Space Administration in Greenbelt, MD in 1962. During his career with NASA, Ed specialized in satellite power systems, published many papers and obtained three patents. The technology he developed was applied to both manned and unmanned space missions. Ed was a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, the 63rd Infantry Division Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as a Boy Scout master. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Edward J. Pasciutti and wife Jacquelyn Townes of Cheshire; his son, Joseph Pasciutti and wife Donna Kay Pasciutti of Southington; and a daughter, Catherine Pasciutti Elliott and husband Joseph Elliott of San Diego, CA. He also is survived by two grandchildren, Kyle Pasciutti and Katrina Pasciutti of Cheshire. Calling hours will be TODAY, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m., at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, and Thursday, Nov. 14, 8:30-10 a.m. The funeral mass will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 10:30 a.m., at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Southington.
