MORIARTY, Eileen M. (McAuliffe) Eileen M. (McAuliffe) Moriarty, born in Hartford and a resident of Vernon for the past 44 years, entered into eternal rest at the age of 71 on Tuesday, (June 6, 2006) after a long battle with cancer. She was the widow of the late John Moriarty, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Havens) McAuliffe. Eileen is survived by her loving children, Karen and her husband, Joseph O'Keefe of Vernon, MaryEllen Moriarty of Rockville, Kathy and her husband John Carabetta of Berlin, Daniel Moriarty of Ellington and Timothy Moriarty of Vernon. Her loving grandchildren Rick and his wife, Phyllis Liegl of Windsor, Christine and her husband John Kerr of North Carolina, Erin Wasicki and Erica Nevin of Rockville and Shannon Carabetta of Berlin. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Maria Rosa of Rockville and Olivia Catherine Liegl of Windsor. She is survived by her beloved sister, who has been her dedicated advocate and caregiver during her long illness, Mary (McAuliffe) Podann and her devoted husband Arthur Podann of Vernon and her sister-in-law Kathleen (Moriarty) McGann of East Hartford. She also leaves six cherished nieces and nephews. Eileen was employed for 19 years with The Hartford Ins. Co. She was a graduate of St. Augustine's School and Bulkeley High School in Hartford. She was an active member of the Vernon Senior Citizen Center, the Vernon Historical Society, a volunteer for VNA Hospice Program, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Intensive Education Academy of West Hartford. The funeral will be from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Street (opposite Corpus Christi Church), Wethersfield, on Friday, June 9, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Dean Highway, Wethersfield. Eileen's family will receive relatives and friends in the funeral home TODAY, June 8, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the North Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT. A special thanks to Dr. Stephen Hauser, Manchester Cancer Center and to the staff at Manchester Manor Nursing Home for their exceptional care of our dear mother.

My condolences on the passing of your Mother. I have no doubt your Father was there to greet her and they are at long last reunited. I loved both your parents and have fond memories of them both. I will always remember your Mom's laugh and the great fun at the St. Patrick's Day parades. Please take comfort in that you Mom is in a much better place and is finally at peace and pain free.
