Eleanor Dexter

Eleanor (Gaudet) Dexter, 81, of Bolton, formerly of Windsor and West Hartford, widow of Harold E. Dexter died Tuesday (April 9, 2002) at a local convalescent home. Born in Hartford, she was raised in Windsor and lived in West Hartford for many years before joining her son Barry's family in Bolton. She managed an insurance agency for many years and in her 50's she accepted the challenge of learning computer systems and joined the Aetna where she retired in 1985 as a system liaison administrator. Mrs. Dexter served on the West Hartford Board of Education and many years on the Board of Directors of the National Federation of Republican Women. She was a past president of the West Hartford school's PTA and headed a March of Dimes Connecticut statewide campaign. She leaves her son and his wife, Barry and Marie Dexter and her granddaughter, Melanie Dexter all of Bolton; three brothers and their wives, Allen and Edith Gaudet of Bloomfield, Norman and Anne Gaudet of Newington, and Harold and Pat Gaudet of Stafford Springs; her sister, Dorothy Christensen of West Hartford; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews who were important to her. She was predeceased by her sister, Beatrice Potz. The funeral will be Friday April 12, 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 19 Walden Drive, West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor.
