Elizabeth Reimer Obituary



Elizabeth Barbara Reimer, 93, of Simsbury, beloved wife for 70 years of Richard Reimer, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Elizabeth was born on July 9, 1920 to James and Elizabeth Hutkay in Ridgewood, New York. She was predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters. Elizabeth and her husband were married October 10, 1943 and lived in St. Albans, New York and then Merrick, Long Island, New York, before moving to Simsbury with their three daughters in 1960. Elizabeth was very proud of her Hungarian heritage and was a wonderful cook. She was a talented artist and enjoyed gardening, bowling, and being a loving mother and grandmother. Besides her husband, Elizabeth leaves behind her daughters, Suzanne Jackson of Canton, CT; Lisa and Robert Valentine of Pleasant Valley, CT; Jeanne and Michael Altott of Canton, CT; her grandchildren Todd and Cheryl Jackson of Simsbury; Mark and Kelly Jackson of Avon, Amy Jackson of Canton, MI; Julia and Jesse Schofield of Greenville, SC; Jameson Altott of Natrona Heights, PA; Stephanie Valentine of Pleasant Valley, CT; and her six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Taylor, Matthew, Olivia, Nicholas, and baby Jackson. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice care staff at UConn John Dempsey Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr. PO Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492.
