Florence Godfrey Obituary

Florence E. (Fisher) Godfrey, 88, of Wickhams Fancy, Collinsville, wife of the late David W. Godfrey and the late Robert Thomson, died Tuesday, (May 21, 2002) at McLean Home in Simsbury. She was born June 1, 1913 in Hartford, daughter of the late Harry C. and Maude (Miller) Fisher and had lived in West Hartford for 35 years prior to moving to Collinsville in 1986. Mrs. Godfrey was employed as a secretary at Hartford Public High School and Conard High School in West Hartford for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Canton Center. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David F. and Cheryl Thomson of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Fisher of Manchester; a grandson, William J. Lange of Chandler, AZ; and six great-grandchildren; two nieces, Joann Fisher-Dybka of Milford, MA and Helen Kay of Washington, DC; two nephews, Clifford H. Fisher, Jr. of South Windsor and Harry Henderson of Garland, TX; a grand niece; six grand nephews and several cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford H. Fisher and Captain Harry M. Fisher. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Canton Center, 184 Cherry Brook Road, Canton Center with the Rev. Larry W. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford at the convenience of the family. Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in loving memory of Florence may be made to First Congregation Church of Canton Center Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 133, Canton Center, CT 06020.
