Frances Sinkiewicz Obituary

Frances (Pasqurell) Messina Sinkiewicz passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021 at the age of 92. Frances was born on December 3, 1928 in New Britain, CT to Mary Berkowitz and James Pasqurell. In 1952, she married Angelo Messina, a WWII veteran. They were blessed with four wonderful children before she was widowed at 35. Despite the hardships that Frances faced throughout her life, her friends and family fondly remember her incredible generosity and warmth. She had tremendous faith in God and welcomed all into her home with her famous homemade sauces, potato pancakes, pizzas and unforgettable spinach pies. She met her second husband, Robert Sinkiewicz, who remained her close companion throughout her life. Together they enjoyed long road trips with the family, always taking along their little chihuahua, "Princess." Her grandkids have many fond memories of exploring her home filled with treasures. One of her great joys in life was to create. She was a talented painter and artist and showered those she loved with homemade knitted blankets, patchwork quilts, sewn dolls and other beautiful handcrafted items. She often told you how some small trinket reminded her of you and sent you home with a token of her love. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Frances' greatest love was her family. She is predeceased by her husband Mike Angelo Messina and is survived by her second husband Robert (Bob) Sinkiewicz. She will be greatly missed by her four children: Angelo and Patty Messina of Unionville, CT; Dr. Michael and Sheila Messina of Westville, IN; Mary and Andy Glassman of Simsbury, CT; and Richard and Beth Messina of Avon, CT. Her 13 grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy, Therese, Danny, Brian, David, Sean, Amanda, Nathan, Samuel, Matthew, Olivia and Michael Angelo, and her seven great-grandchildren will all remember her with love. She leaves her sister, Shirley Sapita of New Britain, CT; sisters-in-law, Adeline D'Angelo of Berlin, CT and Janet Sola of Hamden, CT, and many nieces and nephews, including her niece, Valerie Liistro. Frances was predeceased by two sisters, Mable Carrabillo and Mildred LaFlamme, and two brothers, Bobby Pasqurell and Jimmy Pasqurell. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church 145 Main St., Unionville, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery New Britain, 1141 Stanley St. A reception will follow. The family wishes to thank the staff at Avon Health Center for their compassionate care. I will always remember Frances for her joyful demeanor and upbeat outlook. She was a loving mom to her kids and welcomed their friends (like me) into her home with warmth and affection. She will be dearly missed. Please accept our sincere condolences.
