Francesca Bocciarelli

BOCCIARELLI, Francesca Teresa Manfredi Francesca Teresa Manfredi Bocciarelli, 87, widow of Alexander L. Bocciarelli formerly of South Glastonbury died peacefully February 3, 2009 at her daughter's home in Richmond, VA. Born in New York City on August 16, 1921 to Rosa Tribolati and Domenico Manfredi. She was an honors graduate of Washington Irving High School. Although a gifted student, she was unable to attend college. However, this was the motivation for her to drive her children to advance their educations later on. She met the love of her life Alex and they were married in 1950 in Brooklyn. For their honeymoon they boarded the Ile De France to Paris and traveled throughout Europe in their M.G. convertible. Upon their return to New York, Frances found out that she was carrying their first child. She decided she would like to raise their children in her beloved South Glastonbury where she spent her summers growing up. After moving to South Glastonbury, she and Alex purchased the Brookside Restaurant in 1951. She held many positions there including bookkeeper, hostess, meatball roller and shrimp stuffer until its sale in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in South Glastonbury and a member of its Altar Guild. Frances and Alex continued to take their annual cruises until it became no longer possible. They moved to Richmond, VA in 2001. After Alex died she resided with her daughter Rosann. Mom always said she missed dad, but was never lonely because she had her family around her. Frances always looked forward to returning to Connecticut to visit with family and friends and riding around Matson Hill and staying at the beach in Old Lyme. Frances leaves behind two sons, Alexander Bocciarelli of Thailand, Dr. Paul Bocciarelli and his wife Gina of Glastonbury, her daughter Rosann Bocciarelli and her husband James Weinberg of Richmond, VA and six grandchildren, Catherine, Alexa, John and Isabella Bocciarelli and Julia and Caroline Weinberg. She also leaves behind her loving and devoted caregivers Juanita McCormick and Enisa Beglerovic. Funeral Service will be Friday, Feb. 6 10:15 a.m. from the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, South Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
