Gary Montanile Obituary

Gary Montanile, 66, died unexpectedly, but peacefully on June 22 in his apartment in New York City. He was born in Middletown, CT, the son of the late Bill and Joan (Pelletier) Montanile. Gary graduated from Xavier High School in 1973. After living brie?y in Miami, he moved to New York City and settled in the Chelsea district of Manhattan where he lived for 45 years. Gary dedicated much of his career to high end retail sales in the skin care industry. He earned a reputation as a passionate and skilled business builder and was recruited by industry leaders such as Dr. Brandt and Tata Harper to help grow their sales in Manhattan and in England. He also had a special assignment for a couple of years on Caribbean cruise ships. Gary loved his travel to Europe and often thought of retirement in London - his favorite city. He also loved spending hours in the 6th Street and Avenue B community garden with many friends. Gary will always be remembered for being the life of the party. He loved talking to people and learning about their lives. He was an animated story teller; and, above all else, loved to make you laugh. Gary's family meant everything to him. He is survived by his brother Bill and sister-in-law Heather (Bozrah, CT), his sister Beth and brother-in-law Bill Rasmussen (Old Saybrook, CT), and his brothers David (Nantucket) and Rob (Jupiter, FL). He adored and is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friend, Tony, with whom he had a very special bond. The family will be planning a private ceremony. We were hoping to see Gary this summer to reconnect. I loved his beautiful garden photos that he kept sharing on social media. I always wanted to chat with him more, but it´ll have to wait!
