While I did not know George personally, I knew him through his amazing daughter and all that she went through for him, my heart is broken for her and her loved ones and I know the sacrifice she made to ensure his health and that he had the best quality of life. You are all in my prayers and just remember, he is not gone he is just away....

I met George through an ad in Hemmings in the early 80s. Little did I know when I went to meet him that first time that I would find the bike of my dreams and a friend for life. I had my son with me…he was about 5 at the time. He was very excited on the way home because he was convinced that he had just met Babe Ruth!

George came to my rescue so many times over the past 20 plus years...if he couldn't find just the right part in a drawer, cabinet or box, he would make one that would be just right to fix things. I was awed by this master craftsman. He used to joke that when he sold me the "chief" he didn't realize he would have to provide a lifetime extended warranty along with it!

George was the most honest, generous, and skilled person I’ve ever met in the antique cycle world. He was always there for anyone who needed his advice or his help. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. I will deeply miss his presence in my life….our conversations, his humor, his insight, and most of all, his friendship. I woke up yesterday to a beautiful first day of spring, fabulous biking weather, I said to myself…. I think I’ll go see George today…then, sadly, I remembered. Our family sends condolences to Beverly, Christopher and Wendy.

Beverly, Christopher and Wendy, I don't have the words to express how I felt about George and the time we spent together over the years. He was family to me. I have so many memories --all very special, so many rescues when I broke down, so many "reprimands" when I didn't have a clue what to do, on the track at Watkins Glenn, Davenport vending and all the meets I bought "the wrong stuff" and all the stuff that was " almost right", the list goes on. Our time was special. Since I moved to Florida, I always looked forward to our Summer visits. I'll miss him.

My true friend and a great craftsman, George was always ready to help anyone with his vast knowledge, skill and wit. George's passing leaves a hole in our antique motorcycle community that cannot be filled by anyone else.

It only seems like a short while ago that I met George. Seeing him here and there; hearing how knowledgable he was and listening to many pleasant stories of George through time. It was not until a mutual friend introduced us that I had the pleasure of talking to him. A true hobbyist, George was always willing to share his expertise with anyone who asked.
As I got to know him, I found a man who had a tough exterior and an extremely kind and generous interior. A man who was profoundly patriotic and deeply concerned for his country. A father who spoke lovingly of his daughter who is serving her country and proudly of his son who followed in his career footsteps. A man devoted to his wife, a woman whom he loved to spend time with.
I am going to miss George very much. There aren't enough people like him as there was no mistaking who he was. Spending some time in his basement and going to lunch at the country diner will always be part of my life's pleasant memories.
May God bless George and thanks for allowing me to spend some time with him.
