Gerald Knickerbocker Obituary

KNICKERBOCKER, Gerald "Jerry" Gerald "Jerry" Knickerbocker, 63, a lifelong resident of Stanfordville, NY passed away on Saturday (August 27, 2005) at the Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon. He was born on September 7, 1941 in Stanfordville, NY the son of the late Arlington and Florence (Coons) Knickerbocker. Mr. Knickerbocker worked for the Dutchess Quarry Local Union 1000 in Pleasant Valley, NY. He retired in 1997. A 1959 graduate of the Pine Plains High School. A member of the Museum Village and Collectors Association, Inc., Dutchess Sportsman Bowling League, Washington Spoilers Horseshoes. In 1993 he was inducted to the Dutchess County Baseball Hall of Fame. Jerry was a pitcher for the late coach Les Barton. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorri and Michael Strazza of Poughkeepsie, NY; Terri and Stan Zyskowski of West Hartford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Stephen Ruqus of Pine Plains, NY; Linda and Mike Howay of Stanfordville, NY; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and his wife the late Barbara Knickerbocker of Clinton Corners, NY; Wayne and Betty of Aberden, MD; granddaughters, Carly Zyskowski and Alexsi Strazza; grandsons, Alex Kerr and Anthony Strazza; several dear nieces and nephews; two uncles, Jim Coons of Pine Plains, NY and Raymond Coons of Stanfordville, NY; step children, Lisa, Lori and George Federoff. Mr. Knickerbocker was predeceased by his wife, Leslie A. (Hebron) Knickerbocker and a brother, Robert Knickerbocker. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, August 29, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, South Main St., Pine Plains, NY. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, from the funeral home with the Rev. Len West officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bangall, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Paige George Foundation, Pine Plains, NY 12567.
