Geraldine Dugo Obituary

Geraldine (Geri) Mae Smith Dugo passed away at John Dempsey Medical Center on December 30, 2020 after battling disabling health conditions for many years. Geri was born in Torrington, CT on April 8, 1936 to Brad and Martha Smith. She grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1954 with many honors and achievements. After high school, Geri studied at the Teachers College of Connecticut in New Britain and successfully completed her teaching degree then graduating in 1958. During her college years she met Francis Dugo, her true love; they were married in 1959 and remained lifelong partners. Geri was adored by many children during her years as a teacher. She taught 2nd grade in the Bristol school system for over 20 years and retired in 1991. Geri dearly loved and cherished her family. She enjoyed gardening for many years and was a wonderful cook. Geri was a lifelong learner with many interests always eager to share her knowledge with others and to lend a helping hand. Geri was predeceased by her husband Francis in 2018. Geri is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Cindy), her son Daniel (Dan), grandsons Benjamin (Ben) Petit, Nathaniel (Nate) Petit and great grandchildren Sawyer Elmore Petit and Eleanor Sadie Petit. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00pm in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Plainville, CT. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc., www.ahernfuneralhome.com.
