OLIVEIRA, Gilbert T.
Gilbert T. Oliveira, 82, a resident of South Windsor for over fifty plus years, formerly of Hartford, died early Thursday morning, (December 29, 2011) at Rockville General Hospital. He was born and educated in Fall River, MA a son of the late Antone and Maria Repoza Oliveira. Gill enlisted with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as an engineer at Gerber Scientific in South Windsor for over thirty years from which he retired in the early 1990's. Gill was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Vernon. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 55 years, Jeanne (McCormick) Oliveira and leaves two sons, Brian G. Oliveira of Manchester and Robert W. Oliveira and his wife Lana of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle and Ashley; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his son Clifford A. Oliveira who died on June 16, 2010.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, (January 3rd) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 33 West Street in Vernon. Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours. Our condolences from the Burt Wheeler family. I worked with Gil for those thirty years at Gerber Scientific. I will miss the little guy, we played a lot of golf together and enjoyed the times spent at the nineteen hole.
