Giuseppe Vecchio Obituary

Vecchio, Giuseppe "Joe" Giuseppe "Joe" Vecchio, 67, of Bristol, husband of Irene (Kozuch) Vecchio, died Wednesday, (January 28, 2009) at home. Joe was born July 2, 1941 in Treglia, Italy and was a son of the late Giovanni and Carmela (Funnicello) Vecchio. A Bristol resident since 1974, he was owner and president of J V and S Custom Laminate Co., Inc. He was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed his family, gardening, relaxing by the pool, playing cards, trips to the casino, and the Boston Red Sox. Joe was a member of the Sons of Italy in Southington. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: John and Michelle Vecchio of Burlington; two daughters and a son-in-law: Valerie and Josh Hoagland of Tampa, FL, and Jodie Vecchio of Bristol; four sisters: Rosa Scirocco of Italy, Vincenza Pandolfo of Meriden, Maria DiChello and her husband Pasquale, Teresa Sabino and her husband Joseph all of Southington, three grandchildren: Erica and Joseph Vecchio, and Mia Hoagland; his mother-in-law: Frances Kozuch of Bristol; two brothers-in-law: Henry Kozuch, who was also a very devoted friend, and David Kozuch and his wife Katrina all of Bristol; two sisters-in-law: Maria and Teresa Vecchio; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Gino and Antonio Vecchio; and a sister Elena Harrop. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 2 at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Gregory Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday between 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bristol VNA, 195 Maltby St., Bristol, CT06010.
