Godfrey A. Bowen

Godfrey Albert Bowen, 72 years, late of St. Mary, Jamaica. Formerly of 281 Ridgefield St., Hartford, passed away in Jamaica on Friday, November 15, 2013. Born January 19, 1941, in Retreat, St. Mary, he was a lifelong electrician having worked at Jamaica Public Service for over 20 years, then operating his own business in the latter years in Hartford until his retirement in 2006. Godfrey is survived by his wife Marlene Fyffe-Bowen; daughters Elizabeth Mckenzie, Erica Bowen, and Jacqueline Bowen, all of Hartford, CT and Seanna Bowen-Wish art, of Windsor Locks; a son Errol Bowen of Ocho Rios, Jamaica; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Herbert Bowen, of Hartford, and Patrick Bowen, of Singapore; a sister Alene Henry, of Jamaica; a sister-in-law Paulene Bowen, of Windsor; nephews Stanton Bowen Jr., of Windsor, and Howard Bowen of Houston, TX; niece Arlene Stewart, of Windsor; and a host of relatives and close friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Birdie Bowen, father Herbert Bowen, mother Maisie Kelly, brother Stanton Bowen, sister Marsha Bowen, stepmother Mercelyn Bowen, and grandson Habib Brown. A memorial in his honor will be held on Sunday, December 1, 4 p.m. in Hartford, CT at the West Indian Social Club. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican in Retreat, St. Mary, Jamaica.
