Harold S. "Jim" Newton Jr.

1926 - 2020

Harold S. (Jim) Newton, Jr., of Higganum, CT, passed away peacefully at the Jefferson House in Newington, CT on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 94. Born in Lansing MI, the son of the late Ethel and Harold S. Newton. Jim was a resident of Higganum for the better part of his life. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Jim retired from Pratt and Whitney. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Oliver) Newton for 62 years until Phyllis's death in 2013. Jim is survived by his sister, Susan Voter. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Heck. He is survived by his four children: Ada Kores and her husband Jim, Diane Saucier, Deborah Page, and John Newton and his wife Tracey; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18th at 11:15 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown. Friends may call prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at the State Veterans' Cemetery.
