Harry J. Rummel

Harry J. Rummel, 83, of Bradenton, FL, died Monday, (May 6, 2002) at his home at Freedom Village Retirement Center under hospice care for cancer. Born March 4, 1919 in Ft. Wayne, IN, and a 1941 graduate of Northwestern University, he spent most of his life in Simsbury, where he worked as a supervisor for 36 years at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, now CIGNA, in Bloomfield. He was a member of Life Office Management Association and a certified administrative manager. He retired to Colony Cove in Ellenton, FL in 1978 and then to Freedom Village in Bradenton, FL in 1994. Mr. Rummel was an active member, lay leader, and Bible teacher of the First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, FL for 24 years. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Dobbins of Meadow Vista, CA; a son, Richard of Windsor; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 4 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 330-11th Avenue West, Palmetto, FL 34221.
