Henry JENSEN Obituary

JENSEN, Henry A. Henry Arnold Jensen passed away at the age of 93 on Friday (October 1, 2010), in East Granby, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Henry was born August 1, 1917 in Hartford, to the late Arnold Thorvald Jensen of Aarhus, Denmark who immigrated in 1905 and Bergine Hansen of Ribe, Denmark who immigrated in 1906. Henry worked in the V. Jensen & Brothers Dairy of Bloomfield, and the family business of tobacco. Henry was a custodian for East Granby schools for a number of years. Later he worked as a machinist at East Granby Machine Shop until he retired. He also worked a variety of jobs including; driving tobacco bus for the Pennsylvania girls, custodial work for area churches, mowing lawns, plowing snow and gardens. Henry was known for his ability to make any engine run. He took great pride in quality work and was always willing to help others. He lived in East Granby until 1980 when he remarried and moved to Canton. Henry was known for his strong work ethic, for helping friends, neighbors and his devotion to family. He was happiest when helping others. He was predeceased by his son; Arnold Charles Jensen of East Granby; his brothers; William Victor Jensen of East Granby, Herbert Jensen of East Hartford and Edward Jensen of West Hartford and his sister, Florence Ethel Workman of Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Hazel (Cable) Jensen of Canton and sisters-in-law, Joan Jensen and Viola Jensen. He is survived by his three daughters from a previous marriage; Margo Burch of South Carolina, Margaret "Mickey" Curtis of East Granby and husband Richard Curtis Jr. and Marcy Wilson of Virginia and her husband Lawrence Wilson. Henry is also survived by four grandsons, three granddaughters, one great granddaughter, a great grandson due in February 2011 as well as three nieces and a nephew. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury on Wednesday (October 6, 2010) from 6–8 p.m. A graveside service and burial will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery, Nicholson Road in East Granby on Thursday (October 7, 2010) at 12 p.m. Drop in after funreal until 7 p.m. at the Home of Mickey and Richard Curtis. My condolences to the Jensen Family. My grandmother worked for the Jensen Farm in the 1920's or so, and our family always spoke highly of yours over the many years. In fact, I recently came across a sympathy card your family sent when my grandmother died in 1966.
