Mr. Iran "Splash" Brugueras Jr., 20 of Hartford, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. Iran was born on October 13, 1995 in Waterbury, CT a son of Iran Brugueras Sr. and Martita Gonzalez. "Splash" as he was known grew up with Hip Hop as his life's soundtrack. He was inspired by the boom bap sounds and the clever wordplay of Hip Hop's elite rappers. As he listened to his father's playlist of classic rap, Splash began to rearrange the lyrics, until he gathered enough verses to spit his own words to the beats and add some "Splash" to the tracks. Splash's first step on the scene was during a talent competition with 10,000.00 attendees and hosted by none other than Hot 97's own, Funkmaster Flex. Splash won a dance competition and ranked #1 out of 50 contestant. His first release was an EP with a special guest feature by Max B, and Jae Millz (of YMCMB). Shortly after, the "Snapback" track was released in January 2013, followed by the video which debuted on YouTube in February 2013. Splash has appeared on various mixtapes, DVDs and radio stations i.e., Hot 97 DVD, and DJ Big Mike's "Something for the Radio". His first album "Splash the Pill Boy " was hosted by Big Mike , and Heavy Hitter DJ Chubby Chub hosted his most recent cd "No Excuse". In addition his records played on radio stations across the country "Snapback", "Mrs. Hip Hop" featuring Troy Ave, "Hungry Huskies" (UConn Anthem) and "Pill Boy". His singles have been featured locally, with Hot 93.7 (WZMX) at the helm. Splash also has various guest features on records with Maino, Nipsey Hussle and reggae sensation Notch. Splash was very active in his career development; he performed in Austin, Texas at South by Southwest in 2014 & 2015. Additionally he conducted over 150 "No Excuse "campaigns nationwide, distributing over 100,000 mixed cds and is still going. Splash has been featured in numerous talent blogs such ThisIs50.com, Jack Thriller's 16orbetter, DesertStormRadio, Music Choice, Steph Lova's show on DTF Radio.com, PNC Radio and Sway in the morning on SiriusXm. As an independent artist, Splash built an impressive social media following on Vine (10k), Instagram (15k), Facebook (4k) and Twitter (20k). His legacy will always live @splash203 his music can be found on iTunes. Besides his parents, he leaves to cherish his loving memories ; new born baby girl, Kylie Rose N'ari, loving siblings, Jade Belle, Joshua Brugueras of Newington, Cynthia Brugueras, Ralphy Espinal of Waterbury. step-mom, Nora Brugueras, girlfriend Janet Gutierrez, maternal grandparents, Marta Laracuente and Juan Rodriguez, paternal grandparents, Maria and Pablo Sanchez, infinite host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held, 5-7pm, Thursday, June 23rd, at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl Street, Waterbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10am, Friday June 24th at St. Margaret Parish, 289 Willow Street Waterbury.
