TATTERSALL, Jack Holmes Jack Holmes Tattersall, 80, lifelong New Britain resident and widower of Betty (Hill) Tattersall, his wife of over 50 years, died peacefully Tuesday, (March 2, 2004) at UCONN Health Center surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born on September 1, 1923, son of John and Beatrice (Morin) Tattersall. During World War II, he was a member of the U.S. Army stationed in Burma, where he was involved in training war dogs. He was formerly employed at Gaer Brothers Food Distributors for 32 years, then retiring from the former New Britain Bank & Trust Company. In his youth, Jack worked as a professional field Trial Dog Trainer, but left the profession to regain amateur status. Over a span of 60+ years, he produced many field trial winners and continued to compete until his death. One of his biggest achievements was his induction as a life patron member into the Bird Dog Hall of Fame in Grand Junction, TN. Always a true sportsman, he has served as a judge in many field trials throughout New England and nationally. Jack has been a member of the New Britain Field Trial Club since its inception. He was also director of the Association of New England Field Trial Clubs, holding the position of president for two years. He has been involved since 1958 in the affairs of the John Flaherty Association, where many of the Connecticut field trials are held. Jack leaves to cherish his memory a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and George Najarian of Plantsville; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Carole Tattersall of Southington; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Irene Najarian; John and Tracey Najarian; David and Dena Najarian; Kate, Jonathan, Adam, Jared, Samuel, Matthew, and Jordan Tattersal. He also leaves five great grandchildren, the lights of his life, Samuel, Rebekah, Catherine, Isabel, and Joseph Najarian; a brother-in-law, Edward Brusek of New Britain; a sister-in-law, Shirley Picard of Plainville; and a special niece, Geanne Blair of Oviedo, FL; along with a host of friends and relatives. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Jeannette Brusek; and a brother, James Tattersall. Funeral services are Saturday 10 a.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
