Jarvis Crook Obituary

Jarvis Mark Crook, 89 of Bloomfield, devoted and loving husband for 66 years to Nancy Crook, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on September 27, 2016 at his home. As the oldest of five siblings, Jarvis was born and raised in Hamden by his parents, the late Charles Crook and Bessie West Crook. He served in the US Navy as a Navy Hospital Coreman before returning home and attending UCONN School of Pharmacy. After graduating, Jarvis worked as a pharmacist for over 40 years. His life's career was, unquestionably, dedicated as being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Beginning with his baptism in 1950, Jarvis left a rich tapestry of loving and devoted service to the many congregations he served from New Haven to Warehouse Point and the many brothers and sisters he treasured in between. Whether working tirelessly as a city overseer, in the convention first aid department, with the RBC Safety Team, volunteering on the hospital liaison committee or diligently fulfilling his many other theocratic assignments, Jarvis' passion was serving the congregation. It is this experience over 50 years of serving Jehovah that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Crook; daughter Kathleen Canty; daughter-in-law Diane Crook; brother Douglas Cook (Sheila); and granddaughter Bethany Miller (Robert). He is predeceased by his son Mark Andrew Crook; and three siblings, Barbara Ehrenfels, Richard Crook and Janet Cilo. The family would like to thank you for all of your prayers and kind words and for sharing a life filled with joyful service in anticipation of a promised happy new world soon to come. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, October 1 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 580 Tower Ave Bloomfield, CT 06002. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. For online condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com

My love goes out to Nancy along with a multitude of prayers. There was no greater friend and brother than Jarvis. It was a privilege to have known him. He's in Jehovah's memory, praise Jah! Stay strong, Nancy, the new system is on the horizon.

We lived across Whitney Avenue in Hamden from the Crook family (I was about ten) and was a close friend of Jarvis and his siblings - Barbara was known as "Penny". She had lovely braids. My father (Bill Ulrich, Sr.) worked for Charlie Crook in the drug store during the Depression. Walter West, brother of Bessie, was a fine pianist and studied with the great Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He inspired me to attend the Yale School of Music where I minored in Piano, class of 1955. We would attend but, alas, we have another funeral the same day.Condolences,Bill & Erika Ulrich

I kindly remember Brother Jarvis when I first moved to CT and sad to hear of this passing. I attended many book studies at his home.
I am sure that Jehovah will preserve his memory and he will be free again at the Resurrection.
