Jeanine Barrett Obituary

Jeanine Anita Marie (Drouin) Barrett, 92, of Plantsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at The Summit at Plantsville. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Barrett.

She was born on May 10, 1930, in New Britain, CT and was the daughter of the late Edmond Joseph and Marie Ange (Lafontaine) Drouin.

Jeanine grew up in Kensington, married Don, her high school sweetheart, and together they raised three children in Plainville. She worked many years full-time in administrative support positions, and after retirement, continued to work part-time in retail, and for Companions & Homemakers. Throughout her life she stayed active on bowling leagues, making ceramics, painting lessons, crocheting afghans and newborn baby caps with the Plainville Senior Center, and stamping all occasion cards for holidays and birthdays. She and Don took many weekend drives throughout the northeastern states, lived in VT for six years, spent many summers in Old Saybrook at the family cottage, and she enjoyed NYC day trips to see Broadway Shows and shop.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (William) Peck; sons, Brian (Sally) Barrett, and Gary (Karen) Barrett and grandson William Barrett. She is also survived by her sister Fern Kornichuk and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late husband, she is predeceased by her siblings Marie Malley, John Drouin, and Marcelle Wynne.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at The Summit of Plantsville, for their kind support and care of Jeanine during her stay with them over the last three and a half years.

The Cremation Society of CT in Windsor has care of the arrangements for a private service for the immediate family.
