Jeffrey Partridge Obituary

Jeffrey R. Partridge, 51, of Stratford, beloved husband of Jacqueline Murray Partridge, died suddenly while jogging early Thursday morning, (February 21, 2002). He and his wife were vacationing in London, England. Jeff was born March 9, 1950, son of the late Roy and Barbara (Mills) Partridge. He grew up in Meriden, graduated from Platt High School in 1968 and earned his B.A. in English from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1973. Jeff was Senior Vice President, Manager of the Life/Employee Benefits Insurance Division and a member of the Board of Directors of R.C. Knox in Hartford. Prior to joining R.C. Knox in 1985, Jeff spent 13 years in sales and management with Aetna. He held the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations. His volunteer activities combined his passion for exercise and his love for the Hartford community. He was instrumental in founding the Hartford Marathon and was a member of the board of directors of the Hartford Marathon Foundation and the Hartford YMCA. Jeff was a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Connecticut Forum. He was also a member of the Alumni Board of Directors of Ohio Wesleyan University. He recently completed his term as Commissioner on the State Ethics Commission. He was formerly a trustee of Hartford Seminary and was past president of the University Club of Hartford. Countless area organizations have benefited from his energetic leadership and his tireless fundraising efforts. A treasured friend and colleague, Jeff was known as the "go-to-guy," the one who could accomplish what others thought was unachievable and the one who knew how to inspire and motivate others to embrace challenges together. He will be sorely missed. Besides his loving wife; Jeff is survived by five children, Erik Partridge of Manchester, Jenny Partridge of West Hartford, Lisa Partridge of Marlborough, and Adam and Alexandra Pancak of Stratford; his three sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Al Partridge of Vernon, Pam and Clark West of Farmington, and Tracy and Tom Wodatch of Wallingford; his former wife, Tina Partridge of Ohio; his parents-in-law, Edna and Alex Murray of Stratford; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Rick Drazdowsky of Milford; his six nephews, Jeff, Kevin, and John Wodatch, Steve and Andrew West, and Jimmy Drazdowsky; his aunt, Shirley Rehm of Burlington, VT; and many cherished friends and relatives. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 159 East Main St., Meriden, at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2002. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hartford YMCA, c/o Kevin Washington, 160 Jewell Street, Hartford, CT 06103. Very sorry for your short life and loss to you Jacquie. A day doesn't go past that I don't remember those that were close to me then.

What a wonderful friend Jeff was - to me and to Ohio Wesleyan University. We at OWU used to tease him about being the only person we knew who said he liked to vacation in Delaware, Ohio! Jeff's love for his family and friends, his love for his alma mater and, of course, his incredible zest for life were such a joy to behold! As the Director of Alumni Relations, I mourn the loss of a wonderful and dedicated volunteer. Personally, I mourn the loss of a great friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jacque, Lisa, Jenny, Alex nd Adam.

Jeff Patridge was one of those rare individuals that embraced the "opportunity side" of life. As a fundrasing volunteer at Hartford Seminary - Jeff's leadership set the standard for all others - he taught me much. God has called home a good and faithful servant.

No words can describe the loss that we all feel. Jeff's smile, encouragement, energy and sense of humor will be sadly missed. Jeff was the Chair of the Hartford Seminary Annual Fund while I was on staff in the development office. He is just such a go-getter. A wonderful, thoughtful person who has been taken much too soon. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

Sometimes things happen that we just can't make sense of and Jeff's passing is certainly one of those times. To Jackie, his children & family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Take comfort in what a special person Jeff was and how many lives he touched in a positive way. A week before his death Jeff said to me that you can't plan for the future, you have to live for now and that is what he did. His passing has taught us all a valuable lesson. I have worked with Jeff for the past 14 years and will miss his sense of humor and smiling face.

Though we've gone our separate ways in the years since high school, the untimely death of my boyhood friend, Jeff Partridge, saddens me deeply. We shared a passion for being the best, a love of intellectual comedy, and living life to the fullest. We feared nothing; we feared no one - not even 50 Stamford swimmers in full flaming red sweats against the 4 of us! Freddie's fearless 4 is now 3.

As a longtime employee here at Ohio Wesleyan, I saw Jeff as a student and was able to track his involvements over the years. He has been one of the reasons that I continue to work here, to encounter persons like Jeff.

May God continue to hold you all in His hands.

A great smile, a positive attitude, a love of life, and a desire to make life better for everyone is Jeff Partridge. I've known Jeff for 6 years both through the Greater Hartford Marathon (I'm on the Marathon Committee) and through my professional involvement with RC Knox.

Jeff made a difference and words can't express my sorrow.

To "Dr. P" and his loving family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dr. P. was certainly one of a kind. His incredible positive outlook on life is something I will cherish and certainly miss. I am so thankful to have worked with him and been one of his many "students". Jeff has touched many lives and we are grateful for the time we have spent with him. Dr. P was a very special person. We will miss him dearly. May God bless all of you.

Love,

I am stunned and so sorry to hear of Jeff's death. Having spent considerable time with jeff on the Hratford seminary Board, I came to learn of his great commitment to others and his passion for the community and those that he loved. We will all be better people for having had Jeff in our lives.

I regret that I will be unable to attend the funeral since I am in Florida. However, be assured that Jeff and all of his loved ones will be in my prayers.
