Joan Carrozzo Obituary



Joan E. Carrozzo, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home after a courageous and gracefully endured battle with ALS. She was the loving wife of Joseph Carrozzo for 50 years. Born April 18, 1936 in Hartford; the daughter of the late Edward and May (Aniello) Bailey. Joan was a compassionate, strong willed, magnificent mom and she and her husband were a testament to a beautiful marriage. She enjoyed reading, cooking, volunteering in the community and always put family first in any category. In addition to her treasured husband, she leaves her cherished children, Sharon Gilgun and husband Frederick of Winchester, MA, Francine Carrozzo of Margate, FL and Joseph Carrozzo, Jr., and wife Rizalinda of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Luke, Owen and Faith Gilgun and Bailey Carrozzo; nieces, Kelly Goodkowsky and husband Scott of Springfield, MA and Tracey Bailey of FL and nephew, Richard Bailey of Wethersfield and many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Bailey. Friends may call on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Joseph's Church, Winsted at 11 AM. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted in the spring. Many years ago, Joan was a devoted volunteer at Beardsley. She was always willing to try any task. enjoyed seeing rhe patrons and enjoyed a good laugh--fond memories. Our deepest sympathies to Joe and family.
