Joan A. Moraski

Joan A. "Joanie" Moraski, 72, formerly of Goshen, CT, died on February 10th, 2021 at The Villages, Florida, where she had been residing since 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Alfred C. Moraski. Born in Torrington, CT, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Obringer) Benisch. Joan was a graduate of Torrington High School, and attained her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education at Central Connecticut State University. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher at the Goshen Center School in Goshen, CT for over 25 years. She loved teaching her students, especially focusing on their writing and grammar skills. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Torrington Country Club for many years. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Joan was a dog lover and affectionately raised several of her own. Joan leaves behind two brothers; William Benisch of Madison, Wisconsin, and his wife, Deborah, and Donald Benisch of Torrington, CT, and two nieces. She also leaves behind her step-daughter, Dyan Moraski of Newington, CT, step-son, Alfred C. Moraski, Jr. of Winsted, CT and step-granddaughter, Jill Moraski, of Berkeley, California. A graveside memorial and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT, has care of the funeral arrangements.
