This memory and expression of condolence comes more than two months after Joel's death, but is no less heartfelt for that. Sparing readers the tiresome back story, I was an elementary and junior high school classmate and friend of Joel's, then went away to high school and college, and never returned to the the Hartford area to live (eventually settling in Chicago) so never had any contact with Joel from 1959 or thereabouts to today when, for reasons not relevant here, I came upon the accompanying obituary on the Legacy website, an obituary so well done that I felt obliged to add to the entries in the Legacy thread. First, and most importantly, to express my condolences to Joel's wife, his children, his grandchildren, his extended family, and his many friends. May his memory be for a blessing. Second, to thank the author or authors of the obituary for his/her/their laudable effort to share memories of Joel. Third, to say that my memory of Joel matches with the much fuller portrait of him, as set forth in the obituary, the match being about the qualities identified in the opening paragraph of the obituary "caring, considerate, and kind to all." Fourth, to pay my respects, very indirectly, to the cohort of elementary and jr. high school classmates (two of whom, Stu Roth, and Hope Canter Noar, make an appearance in the Legacy thread below), none of whom, with one exception, I have kept up with, but many of whom, I am sure, were good friends of Joel, and all of whom I remember with affection. Warmest regards to all of them, and their families. Take good care.
