D'AMICO, John
John D'Amico, 86, of Middletown, beloved husband of Sebastiana (Catalano) D'Amico, died Thursday, (July 25, 2013) at Middlesex Hospital. John was born in Siracusa, Italy, the son of the late Antonio and Giuseppa (Sirugo) D'Amico. His career was mostly spent supervising for the Eternit Co. in Siracusa, Italy before he moved his family to Middletown. John enjoyed spending time in his vegetable and flower garden, watching International Soccer and spending time with his large family. John's remaining time was spent with family at his side. Besides his wife, John is survived by, four sons, Anthony D'Amico of Wethersfield, Joseph D'Amico of Middletown, Maurizio D'Amico and his wife Maria of East Hampton, Bruno D'Amico and his wife Cheryl of Middletown; two daughters, Josephine Weil of East Hampton, Meri D'Amico-Dillon and her husband John Dillon of Portland. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, John, Lindsay, Lauren, Melissa, Jessica, Jonathan, Michael, Christina, Ryan, Matthew (predeceased), Jenna, Zachary, Kaitlyn and Bethany. Plus five great-grandchildren, Natalie, Alexia, Nathan, Austin and Kylie.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown. Donations can be made in his name to Connecticut Children's Medical Center. We are very saddened to hear of the passing of John. He was truly a great neighbor and our older son loved visiting with him very much. We also enjoyed watching him tend to his beautiful gardens, daily. He will be missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
