I have crossed the United States several times since 1983, but none of those trips even comes close to the time John, and I rode our Bicycles from Connecticut to California. John, Thank You for asking Me to share that adventure with You. We set the bar high that summer, and seldom has it been passed.

I will always remember John as part of the Kirtland Street Gang growing up in Deep River. He will not be forgotten and my heart goes out to his family.

Mark and Henebry family, i'm so sorry to hear of John's passing. Also, i was surprised to read of his cross country bike trip, his love of the outdoors, and his passion and skills in carpentry. I grew up with John, from Deep River Elementary to john Winthrop to Valley, and i felt we lived sort of parallel lives as both our dads were teachers in the school system. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
Kindly,
John Szypula
