John Laskey Obituary

LASKEY, John W. John W. Laskey, 64, of Newington, passed away Saturday, (November 15, 2008), at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Richinick) Laskey for 32 years. He was born in New London, CT, son of Walter Laskey and the late Dolores (Batchelder) Laskey. He was a Newington resident for over 30 years. John was employed for many years by New England Safety Shoe in Newington. John was a member of St. Mary's Church, Newington and the Knights of Pyithias, John Hay Lodge #6. John was a U.S. Air Force Veteran; he served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. John was an avid golfer; he enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and having coffee with the "guys" at Steve's Place. A loving husband and father he leaves his wife Barbara; his daughter the apple of his eye, Megan Laskey of Newington; his father Walter Laskey of Groton; his brother, Bill Laskey and his wife Karen and their children, Kristin and Dayne of Gales Ferry; his brothers-in-law, William Richinick of Auburn, MA, Paul Richinick and his wife Mary of Charlton, MA and Gary Richinick and his wife Mary of Santa Monica, CA. His Funeral Services will be held Friday, Nov. 21, 9:15 a.m. from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. Interment with Military Honors will follow in West Meadow Cemetery. Relative and friends are invited to call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
