MELECHINSKY, John A. John A. Melechinsky, 90, died Monday, (September 20, 2004) at an area convalescent home. Born in Stamford, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Walko) Melechinsky, he lived many years in New Britain and was a commercial and private photographer. In 1967, John received the national service award presented by the Professional Photographers Assn. He began his photography career prior to World War II and served in the U.S. Navy as an aerial photographer. He later did photography work for New Britain Machine Co. He was a member of the New Britain Kiwanis Club and had been active in the New Britain Museum of Art and was a former member of All Saints Church. John is survived by his sister, Ann Hudak of Berlin; two brothers, Frank Mala of Tucson, AZ, Joseph Mel of Bristol and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased two brothers Andrew Melechinsky and Mark Melechinsky. Funeral services will be held Friday, 9 a.m. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 198 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
