John F. Rizy

John F. Rizy, 80, of Loveland Hill Rd., Vernon died Tuesday, (May 6, 2003) at Rockville General Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor (Buckenavage) Rizy. John was born in Vernon June 10, 1922 and resided there all his life. He was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Kramer) Rizy. Mr. Rizy was a Navy Veteran of Work War II, serving in the European Theater. Prior to his retirement in 1987 he was employed with Northeast Utilities as Plant Manager of the South Meadows Power Station, Hartford. John was a member of The Italian American Friendship Club, The Maple Grove and The Army-Navy Club in Manchester. He enjoyed his camp in Fayetteville, ME. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; John and Jean Rizy of Manchester and Richard and Lynda Rizy of Tolland; a brother, William Rizy or Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Norma Rizy of Dighton, MA and Margaret Middleton of Broad Brook; a sister-in-law, Mary Rizy of Coventry; four grandchildren, Christopher Rizy of Sturbridge, MA, Jennifer Rizy of Austin, TX, and Benjamin Rizy and Ashley Rizy, both of Tolland; a great grandson, Kyle Rizy of Sturbridge, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Rizy. Funeral services will be Friday, May 9, 9 a.m. from White-Gibson-Small Funeral Home, 65 Elm St., Rockville with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Rockville. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
