Jose Melo Obituary
Jose A. Melo, 44, of West Hartford, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his side on Monday, December 16, 2013. Born on November 29, 1969 in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, son of Jose F. and Deolinda (Sousa) Melo of West Hartford, he had lived in West Hartford since 1978. Jose was a 1991 graduate of Conard High School, West Hartford and attended H.A.R.C. in Hartford. Jose enjoyed spending time with his family, sports, music, the 3 Stooges, van rides with his "Dad" and even simple trips to the mall. Besides his parents, Jose is survived by a brother Daniel Melo of Coventry and a sister Zelia Melo of Newington. He also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral procession will be Thursday, 10:15 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral procession from 9:00 to 10:15 am at the funeral home. A Seven Day Mass will be Monday, December 23 at 7:00 pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to H.A.R.C., 900 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105. My heart is broken to hear the news of Jose's passing (Joe). I remember going to work in the morning, HARC, when Joe arrived in the lobby his face and smile would just light up the room. He was an amazing gentleman. You will be missed!!! My deepest condolences to the family.
