Joseph Bastis Obituary

BASTIS, Joseph "Joe" L. Joseph Lee Bastis, 56, a lifelong resident of Manchester, passed away Friday, (August 13, 2004) at his home. Born October 2, 1947, he was the son of Emily (Coppen) Bastis of East Hartford and the late Joseph J. Bastis. Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a sign fabricator for the Artisan Sign Co., was a lifetime member of the Rifle and Gun Club of Holland, MA, a member of the American Legion Posts 102 of Manchester, an avid fisherman and spent much of his time shooting darts in competition for the Sportsmen Tavern. Besides his mother, Joe is survived by his brothers, Wayne Robert Bastis of Manchester, Michael Bastis and his wife Debbie of East Hartford; his niece, Ashly Bastis of Las Vegas, NV; three nephews, Jonathan Wayne Trudeau, Michael Bastis, Jr., and Justin Bastis, all of East Hartford. A Memorial Service to celebrate Joe's life will be Saturday, August 21, at 10 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., (Rte. 83) Vernon. Relatives and friends may gather one hour prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at a date and time to be announced.

Sorry to hear about Joes death..I haven't seen him in about 35 years..we dated for a short time..he was a great guy..I wish I knew he played darts..I love the game myself..
