Joseph Bahij Chaho, "Joe", 48, of West Hartford, best son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, dear friend, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He is survived by his dear brother Michael B. Chaho and his wife, Nidale, of Avon, his loving sister Marion L. Barrak and her husband, Bechara, of Avon, and his beloved nieces and nephews, Steph Barrak, Sandra Barrak, Alex Bahij Chaho, and Michael Joseph Chaho. He was predeceased by his parents Dr. Bahij Chaho and Doris Chaho of West Hartford. Joseph was born in Lebanon and in 1975 moved back and forth from Lebanon to the U.S. for a number of years. The family finally settled in West Hartford. He was a graduate of Avon Old Farms ('90) and Bates College in Maine, and was the Vice President and Secretary of the Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation, Inc., in West Hartford. Through his gracious and unpretentious stewardship with Marion Barrak and Michael Chaho, the Foundation helped fund the Hoffman Heart Institute at St. Francis Hospital and also supported Hospital for Special Care, New Britain, Juvenile Diabetes, numerous colleges and schools, and helped change lives by supporting programs of many non-profits throughout Connecticut and beyond. Joe was one of a kind, an angel on earth, he loved and was loved, and went out of his way to make you happy. He always had a smile for you, and time to listen to you. He loved opera, and also loved to share photos of his trips to Maine in search of the perfect lobster. He selflessly cared for his beloved father, Dr. Bahij. As his mother Doris used to say; "Joe is gold", and that he was for sure. He will leave a huge void in so many lives. A Christian Burial Service was held at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Waterbury, CT on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00am.
