Joseph Giuliano Obituary

Joseph Anthony Giuliano, 69, of East Hartford passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 surrounded by an immense amount of love from his family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Linda LaPierre-Giuliano of East Hartford; his loving kids Shauna Giuliano Mendoza and her husband Alberto Mendoza of Newington, Tony Giuliano of Newington, Erica Giuliano of Newington, and Jason Johnson and his wife Darcie Finley of Wethersfield. His four cherished grandchildren who he loved so much, Jax, Luca, Oliver, and Milo. He also leaves his two sisters, Rosemarie Bishop of Winsted, and Lisa Polzun and her husband Dennis Polzun of Torrington; along with the sweetest nieces, nephews, beloved mother-in-law, and several sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his mother and father Dolores "Tootsie" (Negri) and Anthony "Tony" Giuliano. Joe's happiest of places were in his back yard cooking burgers for his family, playing on the golf course, vacationing in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, overlooking the pond (with a fishing pole in hand) at his sister-in-law's home in Maine, at his barber shop cutting hair, or anyplace where he could enjoy a good book and a beautiful weather day. Joe will forever be known for his unique sense of humor and his contagious laugh. He had an internal library of jokes which he repeated time and time again but was always witty enough to come up with a new joke on demand. Some of his best jokes were the ones nobody even understood but he would laugh at himself, therefore making you laugh. He loved both playing and watching sports. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Although you would catch him enthusiastically rooting for the Pittsburg Steelers in support of his wife. He was a teacher, a forgiver, a glass half full, sees the best in everybody kind of guy. He was all things good in the world. And let's not forget, he was an epic sandwich maker. Joe was well known for his positive attitude and strong spiritual beliefs. Those incredible traits led to a remarkable impact on everyone in his life. We've all learned lessons from him that will be cherished and never forgotten. Following along in his father's footsteps, Joe was a proud barber for over 50 years. Part of his legacy lives on at his barbershop where he was lucky enough to do what he loved every day. It was there that he built all kinds of wonderful friendships and built a family in his clients and employees. He will be missed dearly by a multitude of people, who love him with all their hearts and have gratitude for the time they've spent with him. Joe's family will receive relatives and friends at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Monday (June 21, 2021) from 4 – 7 pm. A private funeral service and burial celebrating Joe's life will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I returned to CT after living in Nevada for 7 years and learned of Joe's passing today. I headed over to the barbershop, excited to see Joe, catch up, tell him about my new job to see if he'd want to partner with us. I expected to to see him inside, cutting hair, and greet me with a surprise, a "hey Lauren" and a joke. I met his son-in-law who told me of his passing. I hadn't spoken to Joe in years, but had never forgotten him. He was a truly unique and amazing individual, always positive, always so so kind, and a pleasure to work for and be around. Thank you to his family for keeping his legacy going. My deepest condolences.

Linda and family.Maggie and I were so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing in the recent Gilbert School alumni news. We sat at the same table with Joe and you at the 50 year reunion and although I hadn’t seen him in that long, it felt like I had known him all along. He was certainly a special guy and your family was blessed to have him in your life.

Joe showed a deep commitment to his family, coworkers and friends. HIs unwavering spiritual strength guided and sustained him through everything he did. His soft yet firm character allowed him to shine from within. It was an honor to spend time with Joe on the tennis courts, as a neighbor, as a coworker and as a friend. Joe will continue on as will as his legacy...I will miss him. Mauro

Linda and family - In hairdressing school this man was already a barber and was there to become a hairdresser. I was having a tough time as a brand new student "learning" haircutting- Joe saw me came over and said this is how we put a "guide" in at barber school. Oh my gosh I remember everything "clicking" in that moment and I can see him masterfully going through that head of hair with the best lesson- It is like I am right there that is how him taking the time was an immence influence on my life. He went off and became a hairdresser and I wound up becoming a barber, I have not seen him for 20 years yet when I did he tried to offer me a job in his salon and I said no way = LOL - I loved barbering to much. He was too young- I will never forget that always smiling face and great moustache. God Speed Joe - you were much to young. I am so very sorry for your beautiful family- I know you will be watching over them all from heaven,

What is there to say about Joe that we all don't already know or hasn't been said by everyone who knew him?

I've been blessed to know Joe for over 35 years as a family friend and client. Both of my adult children have never had a haircut from anyone else!

I will miss my visits with Joe. I will miss laughing with him and sharing life stories with him. Whenever I was going through a challenging time, he would listen and offer wisdom; he always respected differing opinions, and I can recite several of my favorite "Joe Jokes" at the drop of a hat.

Lin, Shauna, Erica, Tony, Rose, Lisa...my heart hurts with yours. What a blessing and joy to have loved and be loved by such a special man.

My deepest condolences. May God bring you peace during this time.

I met Joe +10 years ago and we became fast friends through his business. Best barber I’ve ever known, and just a super great guy. I was fortunate to see Joe in January and as always he was as positive and engaging and skilled as can be- will never forget the “quick taper”! I’ll miss hearing about his San Diego/Mexico trips, time off in Maine, his family, and his golf adventures. RIP dear Joe, and may your family find peace in your passing.
