Josephine Ostrowski

1918 - 2013

Josephine (Wojcik) Ostrowski, 95, of West Hartford formerly of Newington passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation after a brief illness. Josephine was born on January 13, 1918 in Rutland, VT, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Markowski) Wojcik. She lived in Hartford before moving to Newington with her son and family she lived for 28 years before moving to West Hartford six years ago. She was the owner of Laurel Launderama in Hartford for many years before selling the business and continuing to work for the new owner. Josephine loved spending time with her family and her great grandchildren were her life. She was so proud of their accomplishments and while living at Hughes everyone there would have to hear all the time how smart and beautiful her grandchildren were. She loved playing bingo and watching all the judge shows on TV and talking about the good old days. She is survived by her granddaughters, Cindy Gustafson of Newington and Wendy Wojnarowski of Windsor. Five great-grandchildren Eric Ostrowski, Jennifer Gustafson, Adam Wojnarowski, Meaghan Gustafson and Brandon Gustafson; and her sister Clara Mondella of Ruthland, VT. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Ostrowski and her son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Theresa Ostrowski. Her four brothers John, Stanley, Danny and Frank and two sisters Bernie and Celia. Private funeral service will be held at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. She will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Rutland, VT. Josephine's family would like to give a special thanks to all the people at Hughes for the last six years. Josephine loved every one of you, even you Yvonne and she knows that you all loved her.
