Joyce Gwendolyn Zappulla

Joyce Gwendolyn (Spragg) Zappulla, 93, of Suffield, passed away on Tuesday (April 6, 2021) at Suffield House. Joyce was born on April 12, 1927, a daughter of William and Doris Spragg, in Tewksbury, England. She later met and married her husband of nearly 60 years, the late Carmelo Zappulla while he was serving in the U.S Army during WWII. She migrated to the United States after their marriage and settled in Hartford. Joyce retired from Mechanics Savings Bank after many years of service and lived out the rest of her life in East Hartford, CT. Joyce is survived by her two sons, Carl Zappulla of Barkhamsted, CT and Richard Zappulla of Hampden, MA, two daughters-in-law Suzanne Zappulla and Patricia Zappulla, three grandchildren, Ehren Zappulla of Columbia, CT, Megan Sankovich of Hebron, CT, Melissa Zappulla of Salem, MA, and two great-grandsons, Jack and Archer Sankovich. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy DiSalvo of Port Charlotte, FL and brother, Donald Spragg and sister-in-law Judith Spragg of Hebron, CT. Joyce is remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved all things and greeted each day with a smile and kind word for everyone. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 1 PM in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers donations in Joyce's memory may be made to the Suffield House, resident recreation fund, 1 Canal Rd. Suffield, CT. 06078.
