Juliet Lord Obituary

Juliet (McCue) Lord died on February 18, 2023, at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Julie leaves behind her husband, John, and their four sons: Jon, Robert, Trevor, and Alexander, as well as Alex's wife, Jaimie. Julie is predeceased by her parents, Thomas & Helen McCue and her beloved sister, Pamela McCue.

Julie was born on July 1, 1959, in New Britain, CT. Julie's parents and sister Pam owned & operated The Gallery restaurant in Glastonbury for over thirty years. Julie, alongside her sister Pam, Kim and brother Konnie played a big role in working at the restaurant and eventually Julie was a partner with Pam.

Julie married John Lord in 1991. They settled in Glastonbury to raise their four children. Julie spent much of the children's earlier years volunteering at their elementary schools. So much so, that she was recognized as Volunteer of Year by the CT Elementary Principal's Association, three consecutive years. Julie especially enjoyed working at the Hopewell School Fun Fair, where she met two of her very best friends, Jackie, and Liz. Julie's many years teaching religious education at St. Patrick's – St. Anthony was not only rewarding but strengthened her personal relationship with God.

Julie loved traveling with her family, especially to warmer climates. No one loved being at the beach more than she did! Julie also treasured the traveling opportunities with her husband and their good friends, Jackie & Woody Baird. There were also the special getaway trips with her sisters Kim & Pam, as well as with her good friends Jackie, Leslie, and Anna.

Perhaps it was working at The Gallery alongside her sister Pam that fostered Julie's ability to be such a gracious host. Julie and John enjoyed hosting their large extended families to celebrate the holidays and special occasions. Their home was also a place for friends to gather for cocktails, great dinners, card games and most importantly, an overabundance of laughter. It wasn't a week before her passing that she celebrated her last Valentines Day party with almost forty people in attendance, she was a force of nature.

With the children grown, Julie spent most of her time at their home in Westerly, RI. Julie loved spending her summer days at the Seaside Beach Club. With her sister Pam and husband both active in the Glastonbury Rotary Club, Julie was motivated to become active in the Westerly Rotary Club. She very much enjoyed the fellowship of its members and spending countless hours raising money for the club's various charities. The Westerly Rotary Club summed up Julie's essence accurately, "She was a bright light, a willing hand, warm heart and so much more...."

Julie leaves behind her sister, Kimberly Prout and her husband, Steve. A special thank you to Kim for her love and support over Julie's final weeks. Her presence brought great comfort to Julie.

Julie also leaves behind her brother, Konstin McCue and his wife Sue, her nieces and nephews, Samantha Warner and her husband Chester, Thomas McCue and Katie McCue. Julie was also very close to her sister-in-law, Katherine Lane and her mother and father-in-law, Nancy and Robert Lord. She was very appreciative of the love and support provided from the extended McCue, Lord & Garafolo families.
