Karen Dittrich Obituary

On February 12, 2020 after a long and courageous struggle with MS and a valiant fight with leukemia Karen E. (Jergensen) Dittrich of Tolland, CT surrendered to the Lord. Karen was raised in East Greenwich, RI the cherished and devoted daughter of Alice (Kearsley) and William N. Jergensen, Jr. late of RI. In addition to a Karen's parents, she was preceded in death by her Aunt and Uncle Ruth and Roland Jergensen and her first Cousin Judy L. (Jergensen) Beauchemin late of RI. She is survived by her much loved and devoted first Cousin Glenn Jergensen (of FL) and his wife, Helen, who was like a sister to her. Her loyal, supportive, loving and dedicated friends Nancy and Charlie Rayhill, Betty Farnhum, Dawn Louis, Michael Thompson, and Dennis Carlson. Karen was an exemplary person loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed. Through all her trials and tribulations, she never complained. She was fiercely loyal, kind, loving and generous. Karen's favorite way to spend her day was hours spent on the phone with Helen and in the company of her most cherished friends, Nancy, Charlie, Betty, Dawn, Michael and Dennis. Karen was an avid reader and had a ferocious appetite for knowledge. Whenever you needed Karen, she was there in whatever capacity you required. Karen was a staunch supporter of the MS Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Tolland Library and Tolland's amazing Fire and Rescue Department. Karen's wish was to offer her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the wonderful doctors, nurses, caretakers and aids who cared for her over the years. A memorial mass in celebration of Karen's life was held at St. Matthew Church in Tolland, CT. Karen was an extraordinary person in many ways. Her kindness, love, support and loyalty was boundless. Her cheerful, can do attitude was infectious. I was blessed to have had her in my life. She will forever be loved, missed and remembered. As I always said I love you to the moon and back, Karen.
