Kazimiera Bajorski Obituary

Kazimiera (Kaczalska) Bajorski of Kensington passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Kazia was born on May 3, 1929, in Poland, daughter of the late Jan and Petronela (Szpryngel) Kaczalski. Kazia, along with her family, was forced into exile by the forces of the Soviet Union after their invasion of Poland in 1940. After amnesty, Kazia and the surviving members of her family left the Soviet Union and were resettled in Persia beginning a journey that led to India, East Africa, Tanganyika, England and finally arriving to the United States. The Polish Government honored her sacrifice by awarding her with the Siberian Exiles Cross Medal in recognition of her sufferings during the deportation and her devotion to the ideals of freedom and independence. In 1956, Kazia and her family settled in New Britain, CT. Kazia was employed by Stanley Tools and Royal Typewriter as well as a seamstress for Birnbaum Ladies Store on Broad Street, in New Britain. Once married she devoted most of her time to nurturing her children and grandchildren. Kazia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who knew her. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in New Britain. Kazia was a longtime member of the P.N.A. as well as, an original member of the Polonia-Paderewski Choir. Kazia was predeceased by her sisters Leokadia Kwiatkowski and Janina Szpryngel. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 50 years, Edward J. Bajorski; Her son Joseph A. Dear Edward, Joseph & Eva Bajorski and Family -

Our deepest sympathy for your loss of Kazimiera. We came across the obituary and article entitled "Kazimiera Bajorski, 85; Kensington Resident Honored by the Polish Government in screening the internet on the chance of locating relatives in Poland that may be related to my grandmother whose maiden name was Bajorski. Our family, my wife Mary, our two daughters and their boyfriends are planning a trip to Krakow, Poland and Germany in the near future. My grandmother, Apolonia Bajorski (maiden name) was born in Kaszyce, Poland, on February 9, 1888, the daughter of John and Mary Bajorski. She came over to the United States at the age of 15 through Ellis Island. She died on January 28, 1965. I recall where she would write to her sister but lost her brothers in the war. Unfortunately, I do not know their names and unsure if there are any relatives in her home town of Kaszyce that would be able to trace their roots back to my grandmother or her parents, John and Mary Bajorski. In any event, with your name Bajorski, is there a chance you may be related or know of other Bajorski's in Poland that may be traced to Kaszyce, Poland.

In any event, again our deepest sympathy. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

If you get the opportunity, my family would appreciate hearing from you.
