Kenneth Hill Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" Hill Sr, 69, of Bonita Springs, FL, husband of Laurie (Addona) Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday (Nov 25, 2022) at Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by loved ones. Born in New Britain, son of the late Richard and Aline (Bakevich) Hill, he was a former Kensington and long time Southington resident before moving to Florida two years ago. A graduate of Berlin High School, class of 1971, he graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1975. Ken was in IT sales at Scan Optics, Unisys, Hewlett-Packard, and Cisco until his retirement in 2019. He was a member of Kensington Congregational Church; Southington Elks Club, where he served as Treasurer of SKLE; and was an avid fan of Uconn Basketball Teams, NY Yankees and NY Giants. And Organizer of the Village Gate Blocktoberfest for 19 years. Ken's spirit will be carried on by his loving wife, Laurie, his daughter, Allison Hill and her husband, Peter DiMauro of Kensington; his brother, Richard Hill and his partner of 37 years, Maria Olague of Glendale, CA; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shelley and Bob Christino; a niece, a nephew, 4 beautiful Grandnieces; several very close cousins and many wonderful friends. He and Laurie were predeceased by their son, Kenneth "Kenny" Hill Jr in 2001. Ken was looked to as an example of a wonderful family man, devoted husband, father, uncle, and everyone's best friend. He was described as someone who worked hard and played harder. A natural athlete, Ken was an accomplished swimmer, fearless rugby player, passionate softball, racquetball, tennis, and golf player. He enjoyed spending his winters skiing with family and friends in Vermont. Enjoyed summers in Brigantine relaxing on the beach, fishing, kayaking, and swimming. He was a successful business man with an incredible work ethic. He was an easy going, fun loving, patient man with an infectious smile. He will be remembered for his playful humor, strength and compassion for those around him, and being a selfless giver. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be on Wednesday January 11th, 2023 from 5 – 7pm also at Carlson Funeral Home. We were deeply saddened to hear about Ken's passing. No words can express the sorrow we feel for you and your family. Ken was so kind, respectful and a true gentleman. What we remember most about Ken was is unending devotion to Laurie and his children. And Laurie was such a caring and devoted wife always there to meet his every need because that is who she is. We hope the family is consoled by the tight bond and loving relationship they shared and all the wonderful memories they made. Ken will be sorely missed by all. There is no doubt Ken will be with you Laurie in in spirit and in your heart forever. With prayers for strength and peace in the days ahead.

I am deeply saddened upon hearing the news of Ken's passing and my prayers go out to Laurie, her daughter and all those who knew him best. My association with Ken only goes back a few years as I work at the San Carlos Golf Club, located in SWFL, where he was a member. He was always polite and easy going with everyone on the staff and I had a chance to play golf with him, which brought out his patience dealing with his game and people in general. He was the kind of member the staff appreciates; down to earth and respectful of the services we provide. Many will miss him dearly, including many associated with SCGC. Rest in peace, my friend and may the Lord watch over all your loved ones.
