Kenneth R. Volg, 91, of Farmington passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Castellani) Volg for over 65 years. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Frances (Achille) Volg. In his early years, his family moved to Avon where he attended Canton High School. He later served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
Kenneth enjoyed a long and successful career in the printing industry. He was employed for 47 years as a compositor for The Middletown Press Newspaper. His work ethic was to be admired; not one day missed in all those years.
Above all, Ken was a devoted and loving husband and father. He believed that actions speak louder than words and never stopped doing for his children. He unselfishly gave his time and talent to each of his children's homes by gardening and landscaping, painting, and wallpapering -- an overall handyman extraordinaire. He especially loved being around his grandchildren who made him beam with pride. He loved being near the ocean and held fond memories of family vacations on the Cape and many summers on Block Island, Rhode Island. In his later years, Kenneth found puzzling enjoyable. He chose meaningful themes and landscapes from his life and framed them as family keepsakes.
In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by daughters, Faith Margison (husband Douglas) of West Hartford; Barbara Dube of Farmington; son, Kenneth J. Volg (wife Betsy) of North Granby; grandchildren: Carter Mullins (husband Christopher), Douglas Margison, Carly Stewart (husband Jacob), Christina Dube, Christopher Volg, Lisa Volg and Elizabeth Volg; great-grandson, Sullivan Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth is predeceased by his parents; twin sister, Barbara Palmer; and grandson, Steven Dube.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center, 301 Country Club Rd,
Avon, CT 06001. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kenneth's honor may be made to Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to UCONN Hospital, Accentcare and Brookdale in Farmington, for the wonderful care he received.
