Kevin Kelly Obituary

On Friday, March 19, 2021, Kevin Kelly left the world with his wife, Nancy Walsh, and their six children by his side. This obituary was written with the greatest love and respect to our Dad by his children, Hannah (KELLY) Flynn, McGuire Kelly, Bailey Kelly, Delaney Kelly, Atticus Kelly, and Casey Kelly. Dad grew up in Elmwood, Connecticut. He was the son of Margaret (MCGUIRE) Kelly, and fire Captain John William Kelly. He was the youngest brother to Mary (KELLY) Lombardo, Eileen (KELLY) Danaher, and John Kelly. In addition to his children and siblings, he leaves behind his first granddaughter, Parker Marie Flynn, and two sons-in-law Austin Flynn, and Nicholas Calitri (to be made official this summer), as well as his sibling's spouses- Michael Lombardo, Neil Danaher and Maureen (BAILEY) Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. If you knew our Dad, you'd know he was kind, committed, honest, consistent, funny and compassionate in the best sense of these words and in all aspects of his life. Our Dad's love and passion for his work was only exceeded by his love for our Mom and the family they built together. A few days before his passing, he told our Mom "the best decision he ever made was asking her to marry him" and in return, her response was "the best thing I ever did was say yes". Together our parents showed us what a true partnership is- they didn't always agree, they challenged each other often, but at the end of the day, they supported each other, loved each other fiercely and made each other better people. Our Dad dedicated his life (and ours) to changing the world, he did this in more ways than one. As kids, he always told us there are three things in life that no one can ever take away from you, so you better take them seriously: your family, your education, and your faith. Through their actions, our parents made it a priority to ensure we had and valued all three of those things. To our Dad, every person that walked through our door was considered family- he would greet them with rosy cheeks, a glass of red wine in hand and a warm hug. Our favorite tradition with our Dad was making his mother's apple pie recipe on Thanksgiving Eve, we'd pack the kitchen with family and friends, blast the music way too high, toast to family, and be thankful for another year of being together. Shortly after this toast, our dad would famously "Irish exit". As hard as it will be to continue these traditions, we will do so because he taught us tradition matters. Dad, you made this world a better place. Get settled in up there and we'll talk to you next week. And on the last page of your book, Dad, may the angels write peace. The services for our Dad will be held at Saint Patrick & Saint Anthony, 285 Church St. Hartford, on March 27th at 10AM, directly following the service there will be a receiving line to visit with the family. Covid 19 guidelines for masks and distancing will be required. The service will also be live streamed on https://www.spsact.org/index.php?cID=348 Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held in late Summer 2021 details to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made through donation to https://gofund.me/94166546 Directions and online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.molloyfuneralhome.com

I can't tell you how sorry i am to hear about Kevin's passing. I had just googled him in hopes of reconnecting after many years. We were classmates and friends though out our years at PC(80'). He would come to NYC to visit and we had lots of laughs at the Madhatter on the UES. we lost touch but always had fond memories of our time together and old photo's from our days of playing softball. . whenever rugby is part of a conversation i tell the story about how he tried to get me to play. so i went with him 1 day to watch and he broke his nose! had a guy at the after party put it back in place.:). he said "Swaz its very unusual someone gets hurt. come back for another game" Weeks later i did and he boke his jaw!! Kevin its not for me!!! Not funny but as you all know he would say ahh what are you going to do and once heal back at at! Always happy. Always a laugh and thats how i will remember him. my condolence to you all.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Kevin’s passing. My sincerest condolences to his wife Nancy and family. I was a young 20 something when I came to MedSpan and worked outside his office. On more than one occasion Kevin checked in on me and asked if I needed help with anything at home. I never forgot that gesture. That my CEO would take the time to look in on me always amazed me. He set the bar for very, very high for a visionary. I know I am a very lucky woman now to have started my career early on with Kevin and the MedSpan team. God bless you and keep you during this difficult time.

To the Kelly Family:

I am so sorry to hear that Kevin is gone. I worked with Kevin at MedSpan and had great respect for him. He was an enthusiastic and charismatic leader and you couldn’t help but do your best to help him achieve his mission.

There are many great memories and some of the favorites were the Christmas/Holiday parties—- I seem to remember some of you helping to serve appetizers!

Kevin and family were synonymous—and he carried that caring into the culture he shaped at work. I know he is already missed and will be forever. I also know that I am better for having known him.

My prayers are with you.

Dear Nancy and children,
Tobe and I will always smile when we think of Kevin. What a smile, such an amazing spirit, and incredible sense of humor. Although our weekend visits to West Hartford were always rushed, we always knew we would cross paths with you at Marty and Beth's, toast to our families, and share in all of the fun you guys had when together. We will never forget singing and dancing along with Kevin and you in Saratoga, at the Cannon's, and at Lauren and Caitlin's weddings.
We are saying prayers for all of you -for strength and for God's peace. We loved Kevin, and we love all of you.
Sincerely,
Tobe, Jennifer Oscar and Henry Ehmann

What a beautiful and fitting tribute to one of my favorite people! Kelly family, I am so sorry for your loss. For all of our loss. Kevin had a way of genuinely listening to and being present with people that I treasured. He believed in me and listened to me as a young project manager and IT executive that meant the world to me. All my love and prayers to you. Jenn

On behalf of the Coscarelli family, I want to extend my sincerest condolences on the passing of Kevin. He was a great guy and always a welcome sight at HGC and Ron’s Run. I met Kevin at a few family events I was lucky to be invited too. He was always charming and had a great sense of humor. I sat next to him at a wedding. Though we didn't know each other well, I felt like I was talking to an old friend. He had a way of making people feel comfortable. I am sorry for your loss. He left some amazing children.

I am so very sorry to hear the sad news of Kevin's passing. I worked with Kevin at MedSpan. He greeted everyone with an easy smile, was a inspiring, smart, creative, charismatic leader who treated everyone equally and with respect and kindness, and motivated each of us to achieve together. He spoke often with great love of his family, and lead by example in the appreciation and enjoyment of life and career. He made a meaningful, positive impact on many people.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences. I hope your many happy memories given you comfort in the days ahead.

Dear Kelly family,
I didn’t know your Dad but I believe he’d be very proud of your beautiful obituary. How fortunate you were to have been taught and loved by him. Having lost my Dad, I share your great loss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as your walk life without him.
Open your hearts to a “sign” from him. He could come to you in a favorite song of his, a gust of wind, a bird, a feather, a coin found. Somehow, someway, he’ll let you know he’s arrived and all is well. Be sure to acknowledge his presence as he’ll know you know, he’ll continue to be by your side.
“Those we love don’t go away-they walk beside us every day-Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, missed and very dear”.
