Kevin Leach Obituary

Kevin T. Leach, loving father and husband, consummate builder, mentor, loyal friend, and believer in doing what was right, passed away from all of us on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the age of 69. He leaves behind his beloved wife and closest friend, Cheryl L. Lawless, of Farmington, CT and his much loved children, Catherine E. Love and her husband Stephen of San Diego, California, and his son, Thomas G. Leach of Farmington, CT, step son Gregory Lawrence and step grand daughter Christie, of Charleston, SC. Kevin leaves a legacy of building accomplishments from Northeast Plaza to Maya Lin's Woman's Table at Yale University. His construction involvement can be seen throughout Connecticut, New England, as well as, other areas of the country and Mexico. He was known for uncompromising quality, toughness of character, and a generosity matched by none. He willingly gave of his knowledge and experience to those who asked and always sought ways to support his family and friends. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Estelle and Kenneth F. Leach, who was stationed there while serving in the army. He and his family later moved to Arlington and then onto Weston, MA at which time his father was an executive of George A. Fuller Company and Macomber Company. It was in this atmosphere that Kevin developed his love for construction and benefited from the immense amount of experience that his father passed onto him from his involvement in major projects. His background, his engineering degree from Lehigh University, and formable intelligence made Kevin unique in the industry. He never lost sight of the fact that the project and his clients were important; he always tried to give more than ever asked to do. Kevin loved his children and wife very much, as he did his sisters, Cheryl Webb and her husband, Cliff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Plymouth, MA and their children Timothy and his wife Drew and Mackenzie Webb and Linda Hammond and her husband, Bill of Holliston, MA and their children, Zachary and Abigail Hammond. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen Leach of St. Croix, U.S.V.I. Kevin has enjoyed the company of a number of beloved pets and the nature which surrounded him. Lately, he developed a love of opera and would spend his Saturday afternoons enjoying the PBS performances. He will be so missed by his family, friends and associates, but all know that his life is free from the shackles of illness. We love you, Kevin. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22nd at Unitarian Universalist Church of West Hartford, 433 Fern St., West Hartford, CT. Donations may be sent to woundedwarriorproject.org and Our Companions at (860) 242-9999.

Kevin was in so many ways the master builder. Decisive, intelligent and knowledgeable about to build it better, faster and more cost effectively, he was driven to surpass the owner's requirements.

Our working experience went back to the late 1970's and Kevin was one of those people that always made me feel good about being part of the design & construction industry. He will be greatly missed.

On behalf of my wife,Flo and I, our condolences to Cheryl,Tom and the entire family, as well as to Tracy.
