Kevin Michael Murphy, of Raleigh, NC died Tuesday, January 14th at home. Kevin was born December 24, 1959 in Wethersfield, CT to Geraldine Joyce Murphy and the late Frederick M. Murphy. He graduated in 1978 from Wethersfield High School, followed by a degree in marketing from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Following college, he parlayed his experience in commercial and residential construction to build his own successful residential remodeling business. Everyone who met Kevin thought of him as a gentle giant. He had a warm heart, loved to meet new people, and always reached out to help others. He will be sorely missed by many. Kevin's greatest achievement and joy were his children: Kara Murphy Brunk and Ryan Murphy, of Raleigh. Kevin is also survived by his mother, Geraldine, sister, Carol Murphy Sywenkyj, and three nieces: Erin Lyons, Abigail Sywenkyj and Sophia Sywenkyj. Kevin is predeceased by his father and his sister, Sue-Ellen Lyons. A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at 11:00 am on February 8th in Wethersfield, CT at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 56 Hartford Ave. Burial will follow at the Village Cemetery - there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Helping Hands Mission, http://www.helpinghandmission.org/.

Kevin was and will be remembered as the greatest guy. I will always fondly remember laughing with him while on many double dates. He was the "big guy" in the room with the kind heart.
