Kristina Nelson, 22, of South Windsor and formerly of West Hartford, died late Wednesday evening, (August 12, 2009) surrounded by her loving family at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born in Hartford, daughter of Sherry Ann (Drayton) Nelson of South Windsor and Ronald O. Nelson of Hartford. Kristina was a graduate of Conard High School, in West Hartford, Class of 2006 and attended S.C.S.U for her freshman year. She was enrolled at Manchester Community College where she was studying Criminal Justice. Kristina also was employed by St. Agnes Home & Family Center in West Hartford as a day care provider. Besides her parents she leaves a brother, David J. Douet of South Windsor; a sister, Jazlyn S. Nelson of Hartford; and a step-brother, Joshua Bostic of Hartford; her maternal grandparents, Cynthia Drayton and Wilfred Turney both of Barbados; her maternal great-grandmother, Violet Drayton of Barbados; her paternal grandparents, Tony and Lorraine Maynard of Barbados and Ena and Oswald Smith of Bloomfield; her step-mother, Denise Nelson of Hartford; several aunts and uncles, Anderson, Sonja, and Carolann Nelson, Robert Nelson and wife Wandely; Betty Morgan and husband Jeffrey, Donna Major and husband Lou, Kathy, Junior, Tony Maynard, Adrian, Fedric, Allan and Alfred Drayton; five special cousins, Ebonnee, Keenan, Ketzia and Azia Nelson; and Brandon Forrester as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at the Manchester Church of Christ, 595 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester, with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Rd., Bloomfield.
