Kristine Mack Obituary

Kristine Mack (Twarog), beloved spouse, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her home in West Hartford, CT. Kristine was affectionately known to her family and friends as "Krissy," "Krit," and to a select few "The Angel of Sedgwick Road." Krissy was born in Worcester, MA on November 9, 1965 to the late Frank Twarog and Mary Jane Twarog (Hlobik). The family lived for brief periods of time in Oxford, MA and Warminster, PA before settling down in Somers, CT. Krissy was a loving, caring, delightful and especially talkative child. She was always a hardworking and bright student, graduating with high honors from Somers High School in 1984. Following her lifetime passions for science and math inherited from her father Frank, Krissy earned her B.S. in biochemistry from Hofstra University in 1988. She spent over 30 years in the scientific community performing complex research and experiments on various projects with the utmost precision. She was an exceptional and dedicated scientist, always willing to learn new techniques or assist her colleagues. In early 1989, Krissy met her best friend and love of her life, Jimmy Mack. Shortly after they began dating, her beloved father, Frank passed away unexpectedly at 57. During this immensely difficult time, Kris and Jimmy's love and dedication to each other grew to a steely, unbreakable resolve that would endure throughout their marriage. Krissy and Jim were married on May 2, 1992 and spent over 29 wonderful years together at the same home in West Hartford that they restored and raised their three children. Krissy was truly an amazing and unforgettable woman. Her warm and soulful brown eyes (always with bright blue mascara), beautiful smile and infectious laugh will always be remembered. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know her was blessed with her complete selflessness, love and support. She always put her family and friends first, and she was always, always there to help anyone who needed a kind word or deed, a shoulder to cry on, or just a loving hug. She dedicated her entire being to her family and was always by Jim's side, working together as a team. The love they shared for each other was profound. Krissy was a beyond exceptional mother to her three wonderful children, Michael (21), Hannah (19) and Stephen (16). She would do anything and everything for them, and was always their biggest fan and cheerleader, providing unconditional love, support and guidance. Her enduring spirit, acute sense of fairness, hardworking personality and her unfaltering resolve to do the right thing when no one was looking and to help others whenever possible, will live on in her children, family and the countless friends who loved her so dearly. Krissy, we love you to the moon … and back! Krissy was predeceased by her father and mother, Frank and Mary Jane Twarog and her father and mother in-law, Edward and Jeannine Mack (Bernier). She will be greatly missed by her husband Jim and her children; her sister Mary Jean Byer (Twarog) and her husband Jeffrey Byer; her in-laws Michael and Linda Smith (Mack), Thomas and Aline Cronin (Mack), Stephen and Janet Mack, Nicholas Barone and their families whom she loved so much. She is also survived by countless friends, too numerous to count, but all so close to her heart. Krissy was an exceptional person who blessed the lives of all those who knew her. A celebration of Krissy's life and profound impact will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Saint Peter Claver Church located at 47 Pleasant Street in West Hartford, CT. The family will be at the Church at 9:30 am to greet family and friends. A private burial service will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc. Dear Jim, Michael, Hannah & Stephen, My prayers and love go out to each of you at this extremely painful time. I've known Krissy since the late 80's. I first met her at UConn Health. We developed a very strong bond outside of work that I will always treasure. She was one of the most humble, kind, loving, compassionate and giving person that I've ever known. She gave of herself unconditionally to whomever needed support, guidance or help (including myself). May your loving memories of Krissy give each of you peace, comfort, and strength at this difficult time. May she rest in peace. Love, Nancy Dean

Dear Jim, I hope you remember us from the late 80's and early 90's when we worked with Kris at the University of Connecticut Health Center. It is hard to describe the shock and sorrow when we heard about the passing of Kris. She was more than just a friend for us. Although she will truly be missed, she will always live in our memories.

May you find peace and comfort from family and friends. Time will heal everything.

Dear Jim, Michael, Hannah and Stephen,
Our hearts are broken to know that this world has lost the light of Krissy. For 24 years, we were blessed to be your neighbors and we loved watching your family grow. With the loving renovation of your home to the gatherings of your beautiful family and the sweet sound of children's laughter, we were blessed. Krissy's laughter, her in-depth conversations, her compassion and love are remembered and imprinted on our hearts. Krissy was a giver and a caregiver to many. Truly an example for us all to follow in her memory. She loved her family with every fiber within her. May you all know that you are loved greatly and our prayers will surround you always as you press on. May you feel Krissy's unhindered love flow to you, may you remember her laughter always. And may God give you the strength and peace so that you will be able to smile at precious memories. Krissy will want to see your smiles always. We love you. Love, Ray, Leesa, Bryan, Emilee, Matt, Theodore and Calvin.
