Larry Naviaux Obituary

Larry L. "Coach" Naviaux, 84, of Farmington, CT, beloved husband of Nancy (Shatas) Naviaux, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2021. He was born in Lexington, NE on December 17, 1936. Larry was a football player and coach, his career started at the University of Nebraska, went on to the University of Southwest Louisiana, Boston University where he brought his team to the Pasadena Bowl at the Rose Bowl Stadium and was the youngest head coach in BU history. He completed his football career at the University of Connecticut. Larry then went on to a successful career in the insurance industry where he received numerous awards, he was twice elected president of NALU Northeast Association, Chapter President NALU Cape & Islands Association, he was appointed to the Massachusetts State Association Board of Directors, and he won the Thomas J. Wolff award for outstanding service. Outside of business, Larry was involved in many activities including: President of Winding Trails Association, active church volunteer, President of Concord Rod & Gun Club, member of Town of Coventry Recreation Commission, Board of Directors Coventry Salvation Army Project, Board member Willimantic Chamber of Commerce, member of Bristol Chamber of Commerce, President of New England Coaches Association, member of UConn Huddle Club, Executive Committee Farmington Exchange Club, and he ran the Boston Marathon. His retirement career included many enjoyable years at Dicks Sporting Goods. Besides his wife he leaves behind his 4 children: Shawn, Andrea, Jeff, Kimberly; 11 grandchildren: Michael Lee, Nicholas, Katelyn, Michael Andrew, Jennifer, Jeff, Chris, Aimee, Kyrstynne, Zachary, and Madelyn; 8 great-grandchildren; and his dog Kory. The family would like to give many thanks to Avon Healthcare. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday (August 29) from 4:00-7:00 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday (August 30) at 11:00 am in the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St., Farmington followed by burial at Riverside Cemetery, 160 Garden St, Farmington. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Boys Town, 5076 Ames Ave, Omaha, NE 68104 402-996-2540 Omaha Chapter.
